La Palmera is the result of a $50M transformation of the former Padre Staples Mall in Corpus Christi, TX, which was purchased in summer 2008 in partnership with Institutional Mall Investors, Inc. La Palmera has transformed into a world-class leisure destination on par with the best malls in Texas.
The redevelopment included the “de-malling” of the main entrance to an outdoor lifestyle court, new food court featuring a 4,000 gallon aquarium and children’s play area creating a world-class leisure and shopping destination.
La Palmera is the first enclosed mall in the U.S. to receive the LEED Silver for Core and Shell 2.0 designation, following a $50 million redevelopment in 2010. In addition, La Palmera received ICSC Global Awards for US Design and Development in Sustainable Design and Excellence and for Renovations/Expansions.
